Lalbagh Flower show

In the wake of upcoming Republic Day of India on 26th January 2009, there has been setup a flower show on Lalbagh starting from Saturday 17th January.

With over 350 varieties of flowers in display with the theme of PEACE.. NO WAR it attracts people of various interests.

The display has been arranged by Mysore Horticultural Society. At the Glass House itself, over 1 lakh roses will be used for the floral arrangement of a huge globe with doves conveying the message of peace. A miniature Ooty displaying many temperate flowers of the place will also be on display.

The Dutch arrangement, Janur, Bonsai, Ikebana, Indian floral art and Belgium arrangement will be on display. About 100 stalls will sell gardening gadgets, manures, pots, quality seeds, saplings, plants, herbal products, books on plants, among others.

According to horticulture director G K Vasanth Kumar, the highlight of this year's show will be freezing techniques on exotic fruits and vegetables. A separate stall will educate and create awareness on this technique that helps increase the life of these perishable items.
