Ballelika- This song is a typical Rajni intro song. This time its high to hit sentiments. The song backs up going to "old" times, to village alluring a high sentiment of mainly those in cities.
SPB is always charming in this song as he does for Rajni movies. This will be surely a chartbuster even before the movie hits the screens. The picturisation of this song should be beautiful if done fully in a village backdrop.
The song arouses great sentiment through a normal beat fashion. There is not much experimentation done instrumentally but that does not make a great impact as the playback singers does their part to enrich the track.
This song makes into tamil hearts with the help of Kaveri again. SPB starts with the right lyrics:
"Kaaviri aarum
Kai kuthal arisiyum
Marandu poguma".
The jingle of words in the song seems almost impossible to be done by any other than SPB. The song gets into you even at the first time. It is almost doing magic. The lullaby Ballelika hits you without notice.
But the "Rahman factor" is surely missing. It will be a initial leverage for the album but I am not sure whether it will go upto the end. It is a 100% Rajni song beautifully mastered by SPB with a small help from the composer.
I give 85% of my heart to this song. It will be the next big in the mini screen.
Style - The initial humming is really a great advantage to the song. It makes you remember "who let the dogs out" song. But if you expect a rain of beats after the initial leverage you will be disappointed.
For a jockey, this song examples how the beats should be placed, smoothly. I would really appreciate Shankar if this song is made to play in background instead of a full frame song sequence. But I would not be surprised even if it where like that as hinted through the song lyrics page in CD label.
Rahman, Blaaze effect surely "yes" for this song.
Vaaji Vaaji - A melodious killer. I would suggest this sentence for this song. It may be like a normal song if you are hearing this for the first time. But it is going to be good "past" time thought about the movie even after the movie has been forgotten.
Madhusree hits a tom with this song. Vairamuthu is as always with his lyrics. You may not make this song in your brain till the time the movie is premiered. Its for sure.
I will give a 50% chance for this song for being rated number 1 in almost all of the top 5-10 shows in TV. Hariharan's rendition is also worth listening.
Athiradee - This is 200% Rahman song. With his rendition in this song the magic picks up. You will start humming the initial lullaby just after you listen first time. The lyrics though not mentioned in the lyrics page, you will make sure it is by Vaali.
Rahman has matured a lot in singing. This song is best example of how he mixes up his voice and embed it in a beat of varying fashion.
Well what am I looking forward from this song? How Shankar has made it for Rajni. I was not thinking after hearing this song that is a Rajni movie's album. I was floating in my mind when I was hearing it for the first time in my headphones, eyes closed.
Sahana - I do not know why but, I would rather prefer to skip an Udit Narayan song composed by Rahman. Though the tune is good, lyrics are too good, it does not really feel that it is a good song to sing about. Rahman's humming in the song is also average. It could have been more elaborate. It looks like the song has been sung in the past.
The Boss - It is a Blaaze song. His fingerprints are right through the song. The lyrics are "well", I would rather love to forget it. They are punch dialogues rather that lyrics:
"Sachin adicha sixertaanda
Sivaji adicha panchar taanda"
meaning if Sachin hits its a six and if Sivaji hits enemies will be punctured. Well I do not wish to write more about this song. I will never rate this song too.
Sahara - Vijay Yesudas gets his fathers mild voice which is well knit into the song. I would rather love this version of the Sahana song than the one sung by Udit. The traditional lyrics of Tiruppavai has been added to this song, beautifully rendered by Gomathi sree?
But tell me one thing, even if the part where missing won't it hear good. I would have loved this song to be a full length song than a four minute odd song.
Overall
Overall, I rate this album 45-55%. Some songs did really enthrall the hearing experience. But some others where just a waster of time. It could have been avoided. When are the film directors going to decide on the number of songs based on script rather than 5-6 always.
Rahman has done a good job. Like is the work done by sound engineers. It actually is a good experience of hearing with headphones.
For rap music lovers it is good to see Suresh Peters back in track with Rahman. Blaaze always mixes well with Rahman. I was cheered to see Prabudeva in the choreography list.
Let us wait till the promos are out and the videos are out patiently. It is now Shankars turn to chew out magic out of Rajni and the crew.
